PLant-Based Cooking & Nutrition Literacy

Building on the success of our partnership with the T. Colin Campbell Centre for Nutrition Studies and Yonge Street Mission, we are now partnering with HSI Canada’s Forward Food program and Sodexo, to create a free national plant-based peer-to-peer cooking program for cooks and kitchen managers in the charitable food sector.

Our first cooking classes focused on providing plant-based cooking and nutrition literacy for clients of the Yonge Street Mission food bank. After each lesson groceries were provided to food insecure participants, so they could make the meals they learned at home - a combination of culinary and nutrition education with feeding those in need.

Those cooking classes were done in partnership with the amazing chef Amy Symington, and Naza, the owner of Chic Peas Veg.

With a desire to expand in-person culinary training to major urban centres across Canada, our current (free) plant-based cooking classes, in partnership with Forward Food and Sodexo, began in May 2023, and aim to increase plant-based culinary literacy and creativity in charitable sector food service - for public health, the planet, and the animals.

Classes are provided both online and in-person.

We would love to collaborate!

If you have a kitchen that can host up to 10 cooks (or more) and would like to partner on an in-person culinary workshop for your own organization, or for other charitable food organizations in your area, please fill out this form.

We look forward to working with your organization!
